Steve Lowenthal has developed a broad based trial and litigation practice over more than 30 years at Farella Braun + Martel. He represents individual and business entities in all forms of trial and arbitration matters throughout the state and country including a variety of complex commercial matters. Mr. Lowenthal served as the chair of Farella Braun + Martel from 2005-2016.
In addition to a deep understanding of alternative dispute resolution venues, Mr. Lowenthal tries cases where appropriate to protect his client's interest. One recent trial success involved representing a corporate client that was awarded a judgment valued in the tens of millions of dollars plus an attorneys' fees award that included every dollar of attorneys' fees requested in the case.
Mr. Lowenthal has taught trial advocacy at the Stanford University Law School Advocacy Skills Workshop and at the trial advocacy workshop at the University of San Francisco Law School. He was President of the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and currently serves on the boards of numerous other bar and community organizations, including the Legal Aid Society of San Francisco and the Stanford Law School Center for the Legal Profession Advisory Committee. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Project for Attorney Retention.
Mr. Lowenthal previously served as Chair of the firm's Litigation Department and was a member of the firm's Executive Committee and Strategic Advisory Board for many years.
