Biography

David Stoll is chair of Farella's Energy + Infrastructure industry group. His practice is focused on shepherding clients through the process of developing energy projects, from initial site control through commercial operation. Over the past decade, David has acted as the go-to outside counsel for some of the largest renewable energy developers in the world and has worked on projects totaling well over 5,000 MWs.

Typically, David works closely with the firm's environmental, real estate, land use, tax, and construction groups to implement his energy client's project development needs. He has extensive experience with joint development agreements, joint ventures, development service agreements, and other arrangements for the development of energy projects.

In addition to providing guidance through the development process, David also represents renewable energy clients in the formation and financing of development companies and on both the buy and sell side of renewable energy projects at every stage of development and construction.

David also represents clients with general corporate and merger and acquisition matters, as well as trademark matters, particularly for wine industry clients. He also brings a diverse professional background to his work, with extensive experience in both intellectual property protection and licensing issues and e-commerce.

David understands how in-house counsel operate, having served as interim in-house and general counsel for several clients over the years. He continues to act as outside general counsel for many clients who lack internal legal support. David is a trusted advisor whose clients rely on him for his efficiency, practical approach, and business judgment as much as his legal expertise.
