Katherine Ohlandt, Partner

Katherine Ohlandt is a partner in Farella Braun + Martel's Tax and Family Wealth Group, working out of the firm's Wine Country office in St. Helena. Ms. Ohlandt's practice focuses on complex trust and estate matters, including the development and implementation of estate plans, wealth-transfer strategies, business-succession plans, and long-range gift plans for families for effective gift and estate tax planning. 

Ms. Ohlandt has extensive experience with transition planning for families with closely held businesses and real property holdings, including families with wineries, vineyards, wine-related businesses, restaurant and hospitality businesses, and retail establishments, among others.  She has expertise in retirement benefits planning and she has administered numerous estates with illiquid family business interests and real property holdings.

Ms. Ohlandt is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.  She is also trained as a mediator on trust and estate matters.  She is skilled at facilitating family discussions to develop and implement successful transition plans for family businesses, including succession plans that are implemented while the original business owners are living and plans implemented upon death.

Ms. Ohlandt is a frequent lecturer on business succession planning, charitable giving, and retirement planning.
