R. Frederick Caspersen, Partner
Fred Caspersen is the head of the firm's St. Helena office. His practice focuses on the development and implementation of succession strategies for families and closely held businesses. He has a depth of experience with a variety of clients providing services, such as estate planning, will and trust drafting, and post-death estate and trust administration to meet his clients’ objectives; entity selection and tax advice to achieve beneficial tax results for the plan; development of governance structures to facilitate bringing family members into the business; to provide professional and independent guidance to the family and other interested parties.
In St. Helena, Mr. Caspersen has been particularly active in working with families in the wine industry – wineries, vineyard owners and vineyard managers.
Before moving to the St Helena office, Mr. Caspersen lived in Hong Kong for three years (1986-1989) and worked with one of the firm's largest clients at that time, Regent International Hotels, in all aspects of its hotel operations, hotel acquisitions and dispositions, hotel financing and raising capital for its growth and expansion programs.Mr. Caspersen is a frequent lecturer on the efficient transfer of wealth from one generation to another.
