Carl E. Switzer, Partner
Carl E. Switzer is a partner in Farella Braun + Martel's Construction Counseling & Dispute Resolution Group. Mr. Switzer represents owners, developers, designers and builders of public or private works throughout the life of a construction project. He is experienced in the preparation of contract documents tailored to suit individual projects from conventional design-bid-build project delivery to more complex engineer-procure-construct projects. He also guides clients through the process of prosecuting and defending claims to resolution by negotiation, litigation and all forms of alternative dispute resolution. He also has appellate practice experience to draw upon when necessary.
Mr. Switzer speaks regularly to trade groups on a variety of construction issues, including developments and trends in project delivery, claim resolution, enforcing and challenging mechanic's liens and other legal aspects of construction management. He was recognized by Chambers USA 2007 as an "Associate to Watch" and again in 2009 as an "Up-and-Coming Individual" in California in Construction law.
He served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Jeremy Fogel, U.S. District Court Judge in the Northern District of California, and later served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
