Robert H. Sloss, Partner
Robert H. Sloss is a litigation partner with a diverse intellectual property practice. He has litigated dozens of disputes involving technology and intellectual property rights in state and federal courts throughout the United States and before numerous arbitration panels. In addition to representing clients in court and in arbitrations, Mr. Sloss counsels clients on the protection of their valuable intellectual property and on avoiding the misappropriation of the intellectual property of others.
The technologies developed by Mr. Sloss's clients span a wide variety of scientific disciplines, from life sciences to computers. In patent infringement cases, he has represented companies in the biotech, medical instrument, software, hardware, computer peripheral device, dental product, semiconductor and Internet industries. His copyright cases have dealt with technical writings, software, computer games and digitized music. Mr. Sloss has litigated trademark rights in court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board on behalf of software developers, computer manufacturers, computer game creators and advertising agencies. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in trade secret misappropriation cases, including disputes seeking to prevent a departing employee from taking trade secrets to a competitor. Mr. Sloss has also prosecuted and defended cases brought to enforce or interpret joint development, technology transfer and similar agreements between technology companies.
Mr. Sloss speaks and writes frequently on issues relating to intellectual property law and has lectured on litigation practices at Stanford Law School. He is admitted to the Ninth Circuit, the Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California and the District of Colorado.
