David E. Stoll, Partner
David E. Stoll represents and advises a wide variety of clients on development, exploitation and protection of intellectual property. His principal areas of focus are technology, brand and merchandise licensing, as well as trademark prosecution and protection, including maintaining brand portfolios for several companies large and small. In addition, Mr. Stoll represents many emerging growth companies with all aspects of corporate and LLC formation, governance and financing strategies, mergers and acquisitions, as well as strategic partnering and technology sharing arrangements. Mr. Stoll has negotiated and settled many intellectual property disputes for clients, and works closely with the firm's intellectual property litigation group, especially when formal litigation or dispute resolution is necessary.
Mr. Stoll also maintains an active role in the firm's Wine Industry practice and splits his time between San Francisco and the firm's St. Helena office, representing wineries and vineyard owners, large and small. Mr. Stoll works with wine clients in connection with branding and compliance issues, grape contracts, mergers and acquisitions, consulting arrangements. In addition, David provides expert advice regarding the use and protection of wine-related trademarks and trade names; including the names of wineries, their wine brands, and the increasingly common use of proprietary and vineyard designated names.
