Ruth Ann E. Castro, Special Counsel

Ruth Ann E. Castro is special counsel in the firm's Environmental Law Department and the Business Litigation Group.  Ms. Castro's environmental litigation practice includes representation of universities and companies in the apparel, wine, agricultural, water treatment, and manufacturing industries, as well as many public agencies, in cost recovery litigation, in federal and state enforcement actions and in citizen suits.  Ms. Castro has experience with a variety of federal and state environmental, health and safety statutes, including the Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, FIFRA, the California HSAA and the Polanco Redevelopment Act.

Ms. Castro is also a member of the firm's Product Law and Sustainability practice groups, where she counsels clients in compliance with consumer product laws and represents clients in product liability lawsuits.  She represents manufacturers, distributors, retailers and other businesses in complex litigation and defense of actions brought under California's Proposition 65 and Business & Professions Code. 

Her business litigation practice encompasses a broad array of litigation in both federal and state courts.  She regularly assists software, accounting, real estate, property management and construction companies in the resolution of securities, contractual, trade secret and business tort disputes through all phases of litigation.

Ms. Castro was a contributing author on the article, "Preparing Lawyers for Deposition and Trial Testimony."  She co-chairs Farella's Diversity Committee and is active in the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area  She is also a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco Equality Committee.

Ms. Castro is admitted to the California State Bar, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
