Shanghai Bar Association

Farella Braun + Martel, together with the Shanghai based firm of Watson & Band and leading Chinese academics, conducted a seminar on recent developments in U.S. and Chinese patent and antitrust law.  The seminar was held under the auspices of the Intellectual Property Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association.  George Q. Fu of Watson & Band acted as moderator.

John Cooper and Jeff Fisher of Farella gave a presentation on hot topics in U.S. patent litigation Topics included violation of U.S. patent law by actions taken outside of the U.S., recent case law developments, and the interplay between patent law and antitrust law.  

Professor Tao Xinliang, executive vice dean of the Intellectual Property Institute of Shanghai University, spoke on suggestions for revisions to China's Patent Law in the context of the ongoing third revision of that law.

Wu Denglou, judge on the No. 2 Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai, spoke on hot topics in Chinese patent infringement litigation.

Attorneys from Watson & Band spoke on the influence of the new Antitrust Law on the concept of patent abuse.
