Creativity and depth of experience are the major strengths of the Group’s land use attorneys; from successfully obtaining entitlements to guiding development projects through complex political and regulatory processes. Because we recognize that land use disputes and litigation have the potential to destroy the economic viability of even the most promising project, our land use attorneys focus on crafting pragmatic approaches and identifying creative “win-win” solutions.
Our land use attorneys have extensive experience in all aspects of the entitlement process: from redevelopment disposition and owner participation agreements, city development agreements, ground leases with public entities, rezoning and general plan amendments, use permits and variances to environmental reviews under both CEQA and NEPA. Our knowledge of the political landscapes of the Bay Area and Northern California is a valuable asset. We participate in the political processes of the region in which we practice law, as many of our attorneys hold or have held high-profile political appointments.
After a project has successfully completed the entitlement process, we assist our clients through phases of development and construction. These phases may also include the resolution of design and/or construction contracts and development agreements and the formation of joint ventures and financing structures.
