Protecting Trade Secrets: Best Practices from Hiring to Terminating and Everything in Between

January 16, 2006

This is Part II of a two-part article published in the January 2006 issue of Licensing Journal.  Part I appeared in the November/December 2005 issue of Licensing Journal and advised how an employer may maximize the chances that a court will deem confidential information to be a protectable trade secret.

This article discusses ways to protect designated trade secrets from misappropriation by employees, particularly through personnel policies and procedures. It also suggests how employers may implement policies that reduce the risk of liability arising from new employees using trade secrets belonging to others.
