Trademark and copyright properties are some of the most important assets of many companies and often represent major sources of revenue. Nate Garhart’s practice centers on the processes that maximize the value of these properties, from registering trademarks and copyrights to negotiating licenses for startups, public companies, and nonprofits.

Mr. Garhart works with clients to minimize legal risks related to their branding, advertising, and publicity strategies. He also counsels clients on internet issues, drafting website terms of use, creating online privacy policies, and reviewing customer communications for compliance with current laws such as the European Union’s GDPR and California’s CaCPA.

Mr. Garhart speaks frequently on trademark and copyright issues, and is a member of the International Trademark Association, the Copyright Society of the USA, and the San Francisco Intellectual Property Association. He previously served as chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Barristers Club for the Bar Association of San Francisco and copyright advisor to the SFIPLA.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Garhart serves as a legal advisor to the National Ski Patrol’s Far West Division. He previously acted as president of the board of directors for California Autism Society, and served on the board of the Tel-Hi Neighborhood Center.
