Association of Corporate Counsel - Race to the Finish Conference

Sarah Good and Hilary Krase will present the session "Why Civility Matters" at the ACC Race to the Finish virtual conference on January 29.

This program will explore what civility is and why it is so important to the legal profession and the courts. We will examine the recent report and recommendations of the California Civility Task Force (“CCTF”), a joint project of the California Judges Association and the California Lawyers Association chaired by Justice Brian S. Curry, Presiding Justice of the Second District Court of Appeal, Division Four. We will delve into – in the words of the CCTF’s report – the link between incivility and bias where “young lawyers, women and those from historically underrepresented communities are disproportionately on the receiving end of intemperate remarks and abusive behavior.” This program will offer practical strategies for identifying, preventing and addressing incivility.
