Farella’s team of trial lawyers, litigators, and counselors has represented companies and individuals throughout the healthcare industry for decades. We have resolved a broad range of healthcare disputes, including antitrust and unfair competition, trade secret, breach of contract, insurance coverage, patent infringement, and False Claims Act cases. We also represent entities and individuals in government inquiries, investigations, and proceedings involving the Department of Justice, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the California Attorney General, and we conduct internal investigations for clients when the need arises.
Pushing Industry Change
The healthcare industry is in a process of continuous transformation. For many of our clients, we are defense counsel, representing their specific business interests. However, Farella also pursues affirmative litigation to reform the industry. Recently, we worked with co-counsel and the California Attorney General to obtain a $575 million settlement on behalf of employers, government entities, union trusts, and other self-funded payors in the landmark Sutter Health antitrust action. The settlement is the largest cash class action settlement in California state court history, and the groundbreaking injunctive relief promises to transform managed care contracting throughout the nation.
