Farella Braun + Martel Attracts Renewable Energy Veteran Dirk Mueller to Thriving Practice

December 16, 2013 Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO, December 16, 2013: Farella Braun + Martel LLP adds 20-year energy and real estate finance attorney Dirk R. Mueller as a partner in its Renewable Energy & Clean Technologies Practice Group and Real Estate & Land Use Department.

“Farella’s Renewable Energy & Clean Technologies Group has established itself as a leading energy industry practice in the marketplace,” said Farella Chairman Steve Lowenthal. “Dirk strategically deepens our project development and transactional offerings.”

“We have worked in collaboration with and across the table from Dirk for many years, and we are thrilled to have lured him to our thriving Renewable Energy team. He has deep experience in moving energy projects from inception to reality,” added David Lazerwitz, co-chair of Farella’s Renewable Energy & Clean Technologies Practice Group. “Our clients will reap the benefits of Dirk joining our experienced and integrated team.”

Mueller advises energy industry clients on project development, acquisition, disposition, financing, contract and real estate matters. His recent experience includes representing clients in connection with the development, acquisition, sale and/or financing of many of the largest solar energy projects constructed to date in the United States, including the first large-scale solar project approved to be built on tribal land in North America. He has also represented sponsors in the development, acquisition, disposition and financing of wind energy projects, hydro-electric projects, a $400 million geothermal energy facility in the Salton Sea geothermal resource area, landfill gas projects and numerous natural gas fired projects.

Mueller also boasts a significant commercial real estate practice representing investors, developers and lenders in office, retail, hospitality, industrial and residential industries in all aspects of project financing, development and leasing.

Mueller earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (1993) and his B.A. in economics and business from the University of California, Los Angeles (1987). He makes the jump to Farella from the San Francisco office of Winston & Strawn.

“I’m excited to become a part of this extraordinary firm,” said Dirk Mueller. “I look forward to significantly contributing to the continued growth of the renewable energy industry practice and believe clients will clearly benefit from the experienced and broad-based Farella team.”
