Farella Braun + Martel Elevates Tyler Gerking To Partner

January 4, 2010 Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 4, 2010 - Farella Braun + Martel LLP has elevated litigator Tyler Gerking to partner.

"This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and significant contributions Tyler has consistently demonstrated as an associate.  Further, it is always a pleasure to elevate young partners who have ‘grown up' in their practices here at Farella," said Steve Lowenthal, managing partner for Farella Braun + Martel.  "Tyler is an integral member of our industry-respected insurance coverage practice known to be a dominant force in securing coverage for our client policyholders."

Gerking represents individuals, private companies and public corporations in commercial disputes relating to insurance coverage, bankruptcy, contracts, commercial real estate and intellectual property.  He has assisted a wide range of insurance policyholders in securing coverage under commercial general liability, directors' and officers' liability, professional errors and omissions liability, and first-party property policies.  In addition, Gerking has advised several clients, including a nationwide retailer, on insurance and insolvency issues arising from insurers' potential insolvency.  In U.S. Bankruptcy Court, he has defended against claims for preferential and fraudulent transfers and civil contempt.

Prior to joining Farella in 2002, Gerking was a judicial extern for Magistrate Judge Maria-Elena James of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco.  He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (2002), where he served as the publishing editor of the California Law Review and the programs coordinator for the Berkeley Journal of International Law.  He received his B.A. in political science and German, with high honors, from the University of Montana (1999).
