Farella Braun + Martel Names Lara Gilman Family Wealth Practice Chair

(SAN FRANCISCO / ST. HELENA, CA, June 30, 2008) - Farella Braun + Martel named partner Lara Gilman chair of the Family Wealth Practice, effective July 1.

"Our Family Wealth Group is a sophisticated and well-respected practice servicing family businesses and high-net-worth individuals in business and personal succession planning," said firm chair Steve Lowenthal.  "Lara is a certified expert is this field, and her unique blend of experience as an estate planning, probate, business and tax attorney makes her a great person to lead this practice."

Gilman has extensive experience integrating and simplifying the complexities of family wealth and succession planning for individuals, families and businesses.  Her practice includes estate planning, tax and probate, counseling on charitable giving strategies, organizing and advising non-profits, and advising family owned businesses on asset protection strategies.

Gilman is a certified specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law by the State Bar of California and is a member of Attorneys for Family Held Enterprises, the Financial Women's Association of San Francisco and the Family Firm Institute.  She earned her L.L.M. with high honors from Golden Gate University (1999), her J.D. from the University of California, Davis Law School (1993) and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1990).
