Farella Braun + Martel Names Tyler Gerking Chair of Insurance Recovery Group

December 14, 2016 Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO, December 14, 2016 – Farella Braun + Martel LLP announces that Partner Tyler Gerking has been appointed chair of its Insurance Recovery Group.

“This achievement is well deserved,” said firm chairman Steve Lowenthal. “Tyler has been a trusted and valued team member for nearly 15 years, and he’s become an integral member of our industry-respected insurance recovery practice. Our clients, as well as the firm, will benefit from his leadership.”

Gerking represents corporate policyholders in complex, high-stakes insurance matters, where he helps clients negotiate favorable terms in the insurance policies they are purchasing, shepherds insurance claims through the claim processes to maximize policy benefits and pursues breach of contract and bad faith claims against insurance companies in litigation, arbitration and mediation settings.

Gerking has been recognized as an “up and coming” attorney in California in the Insurance Policyholder practice area by Chambers USA (2014–2016). He is a board member of the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and serves on the board of directors of the Boalt Hall Alumni Association, where has chaired and co-chaired the Boalt Hall Partners in Leadership Campaign for several years.

Prior to joining Farella in 2002, Gerking was a judicial extern for Magistrate Judge Maria-Elena James of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (2002), where he served as the publishing editor of the California Law Review and the programs coordinator for the Berkeley Journal of International Law
