Farella’s Aviva Gilbert Honored With WWCDA Catherine M. O’Neil Mentoring Award
SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, 2020: Northern California legal powerhouse Farella Braun + Martel is pleased to announce that Aviva J. Gilbert will be honored by the Women's White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA) with its Catherine M. O’Neil Mentoring Award at the WWCDA 2020 Virtual Awards Gala on December 1st recognizing champions in white collar defense practice.
Given to a stellar member of the WWCDA in her first decade of practice, the award was created in 2018 in honor of the late King &Spalding Atlanta Partner Catherine M. O’Neil to commemorate her excellence, integrity, grit, and tenacity in her legal advocacy, her enthusiasm for life and the law, her boundless energy, creativity, her dedication to mentoring young lawyers, and her tireless donation of her time and talents for the public good. Award winners are nominated from among WWCDA’s membership and must embody the spirit and characteristics that made Ms. O’Neil a beloved mentor, advocate, and leader in her firm, her community, and the wider legal establishment.
Aviva is co-chair of Farella’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Internal Corporate Investigations practice. In her representations of individuals and companies in civil enforcement, investigation, and criminal justice matters, she shepherds witnesses and defendants through all stages of government inquiries and proceedings. She also has broad experience with internal investigations into compliance, regulatory, and financial issues. Her work is focused in the technology, healthcare, and biotech sectors, and Aviva has significant experience as “pool counsel,” working with groups of employees in the investigation stage and then representing them in follow-on government proceedings.
In addition to her law practice, Aviva serves as global chair of the WWCDA’s Young Professionals Committee and as a Bay Area leader for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
