Law Firms See Dollar Signs in Mobile Payments Scrum

Farella Intellectual Property Litigation Partner Rod Thompson commented on the patent disputes that may be created by the rise of mobile payment technology.
Thompson said, "I think you'll see companies with stronger patents that could be asserted in the mobile pay area start to come out of the woodwork and start asserting them." Additionally, he noted that this could include software patent infringement suits as well as challenges to covered business method patents, which cover data processing methods used by financial institutions.
