Senator warns interim U.S. attorney Martin against changing disclosure policies

Alexis Loeb was quoted in The Washington Post regarding concerns over D.C. interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin’s proposal to restrict the disclosure of law enforcement witness credibility issues.

“It’s not the U.S. attorney’s idea to turn over that information, it’s required by the Constitution. If the office doesn’t turn over that information, there are all kinds of bad things that can happen, ranging from embarrassment of the officers being cross-examined, to cases being dismissed after spending significant resources on them, to the prosecutors getting investigated for ethics issues by the bar... Without that information, prosecutors may just be more cautious about sponsoring police officers’ testimony.”
