Farella Braun + Martel Elevates Bankruptcy Attorney Gary Kaplan To Partner

SAN FRANCISCO, July 15, 2013: Farella Braun + Martel LLP announces Gary M. Kaplan’s elevation to the partnership from special counsel. Kaplan is co-chair of Farella’s Restructuring, Insolvency & Creditors Rights Group.

 

Kaplan represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, trustees and receivers in a wide range of bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy matters. His practice includes both out of court and Chapter 11 restructurings, including advising clients regarding pre- and post-bankruptcy strategy, debt collection, judgment enforcement and provisional remedies. He has represented both lenders and borrowers in a wide range of financing transactions, including debtor-in-possession financing, as well as lease and guaranty issues. Kaplan also has extensive litigation experience in both bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy courts, at trial and appellate levels, including the U.S. Supreme Court. 

 

Kaplan is a certified legal specialist in bankruptcy law by the State Bar of California and is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He is a member of the board of directors and is treasurer of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum and serves by appointment on the California State Bar Insolvency Law Committee and as vice chair of the California State Bar Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission. Kaplan earned his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law (1991) and his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School (1986).
