Sarah Good Appointed to California State Bar Board of Trustees

February 2, 2023 Announcement

Northern California legal powerhouse Farella Braun + Martel is pleased to announce that Partner and Chief Talent and Inclusion Officer Sarah A. Good has been appointed to the State Bar of California’s Board of Trustees – the bar’s governing body and a group tasked with developing guiding policies and principles underpinning the organization’s regulatory mission overseeing approximately 280,000 attorneys. Sarah joined the 13-member body by appointment by the Supreme Court of California on January 26 and will serve through September 2024.

“This is a critical moment for the California Bar. I couldn’t be more honored by the California Supreme Court’s appointment at this juncture,” said Sarah. “Clients often turn to lawyers to represent them at the most difficult points in their lives and trust that their counsel will represent their interests vigorously, competently, and with integrity. It is of the utmost importance that the public is safeguarded from unscrupulous and/or incompetent attorneys. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow trustees to protect the public, advance the ethical and competent practice of law, and foster greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.”

With more than 25 years of experience in complex commercial, consumer, and securities litigation matters, Sarah represents companies and their directors and executives in class actions, derivative litigation and government investigations, and litigation. She has served as independent outside counsel in conducting internal investigations into a wide array of allegations of wrongful conduct and also serves as personal counsel for C-suite executives and directors in governmental and internal investigations.

In addition to her legal practice, Sarah serves as Farella’s Chief Talent and Inclusion Officer. She is credited with creating the Farella Talent Initiative, a sponsorship program for women and diverse associates that has seen 88% of participants elevated to partner. Under her leadership, the firm was recognized in the “Inclusive Firm of the Year” USA category in the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America.

With a lengthy list of professional involvements and several posts aimed at increasing diversity within the legal industry, Sarah has been an active member of the State Bar of California’s Ad Hoc Commission on Discipline and its Council on Access and Fairness. She is also co-founder of Women in Securities (WISe). Sarah earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (1990).
