Farella Attorneys Honored With 2019 CLAY Award for M&A Deal

March 27, 2019 Accolades

Farella Braun + Martel’s Jon Benjamin, Greg LeSaint, Phil Peters, Richard Rabbitt, and David Stoll have been named among the 2019 “California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year” by the Daily Journal. The annual CLAY Awards honor lawyers whose achievements have far reaching impacts in law, business, and society.

Led by Jon Benjamin, the deal team was honored for their work assisting World Energy, LLC, one of the largest advanced biofuel suppliers in North America, in its acquisition of Delek US Holdings, Inc.’s interests in renewable jet fuel and diesel producer AltAir Paramount, LLC. The transaction included AltAir’s Paramount Petroleum, LLC’s refinery assets and an adjacent tank farm in Paramount, CA, as well as, most of Delek’s California pipeline assets.

The deal marked the first time ever that a biofuels enterprise has acquired a well-known petroleum refinery. The acquisition of the world’s first renewable jet fuel refinery strategically places World Energy in the growing California cleaner fuels market and is part of its broader effort to build out a large-scale coast-to-coast presence for blended advanced biofuel supply targeting high growth submarkets focused on reducing carbon intensity in motor fuels.

Also assisting on the deal were Susannah Ragab and Jeffrey Hamilton.
