Associate - Family Wealth

St. Helena

Farella Braun + Martel’s highly respected Family Wealth practice seeks an associate with 3-4 years of experience in trusts and estates, ideally with a focus on serving high-net-worth clients.

The position is based in our Napa Valley wine country office.  This is a unique opportunity to live and work in a small-town environment while practicing tax law at the highest level.

Ranked in the Chambers USA High Net Worth Guide, we assist individuals, families, family businesses, and fiduciaries to conceive and implement sophisticated personal wealth transfer and business succession planning.  Our client base is both domestic and international with an emphasis on family wealth generated in Northern California’s technology, real estate, agriculture, food and beverage (e.g., wine), and hospitality industries.

Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to client service are hallmarks of our practice.  Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding academic credentials.  Professionals who work well in small teams, appreciate face-to-face interactions with clients and peers, are open to learning, and are willing to take on leadership roles—in the firm, the profession, and the community—will be successful at Farella.

This position is based in St. Helena, CA.

The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $225,000 and $250,000. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to years of relevant experience and professional skills required for this role. Additional compensation may include discretionary hours-based and additional bonuses, health/welfare benefits, vacation and leave time (including parental and sabbatical) and paid holidays.

Associate - Insurance Recovery

San Francisco

Farella Braun + Martel LLP’s Insurance Recovery Group is currently looking for a litigation associate with 2-5 years of experience working on insurance coverage matters on behalf of policyholders. As one of the first California-based law firms to establish a standalone recovery practice, today the firm works exclusively with policyholders to maximize the value of their insurance, litigate and resolve coverage disputes, establish risk management strategies, structure insurance programs, and draft policy language that safeguards their interests. Our clients include private and public technology companies of all sizes and in all sectors, real estate development and construction industry businesses, managed care companies and health care providers, venture capital and private equity firms, energy and mining companies, consumer product manufacturers and distributors, public entities and non-profits, as well as executives and high-net worth individuals.

This position is based in San Francisco, CA.

The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $210,000 and $275,000. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to years of relevant experience and professional skills required for this role. Additional compensation may include discretionary hours-based and additional bonuses, health/welfare benefits, vacation and leave time (including parental and sabbatical) and paid holidays.

Associate - Real Estate

Farella Braun + Martel is currently looking for a Real Estate Associate with 3 to 5 years of experience. The ideal candidate would have a broad based real estate practice, with experience in acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, joint ventures and development. However, the firm will consider candidates who have worked in other transactional practices, including but not limited to a transactional construction practice involving advising clients on construction, design, and related contracts, and desire to transition their practices to real estate.

This position is based in San Francisco, CA but may be a flexible hybrid position working remotely and in-person, as needed.

The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $225,000 and $275,000. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to years of relevant experience and professional skills required for this role. Partner - Business Transaction

San Francisco

Farella Braun + Martel seeks lateral business transaction partners for our San Francisco office with the ability to bring and manage an established book of business. The opportunity is available to partners at all seniority levels. Junior partners with growing practices and who wish to have greater autonomy than larger firms offer will be strongly considered. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of clients from closely held family businesses to large and complex business enterprises. A successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach to the practice of law and will demonstrate a desire and commitment to developing new business and expanding the firm’s relationships with existing clients. Candidates should be comfortable working in teams and contributing to the firm’s business development initiatives and industry groups. A non-exclusive list of such groups includes those serving the technology, renewable energy, real estate, wine, cannabis and food and beverage industries.
