City Threatened Over Housing Plan: Housing Advocacy Group Says City’s Goals Are Unrealistic

Tom Mayhew, representing the Housing Action Coalition (HAC), spoke to The Independent about a letter threatening litigation against the City of Pleasanton. The letter says the city’s housing element plan is unrealistic and unlikely to result in the number of affordable homes claimed in its plan.

“We sent the letter in order to preserve the right to file suit, but we have not filed,” said Mayhew. “We are looking for compliance ... to make sure that all cities are making plans to accommodate their fair share. We want to make sure that all cities follow the rules about having realistic and available sites for the much-needed housing in the Bay Area.”
