Farella Braun + Martel Advises First Solar on Sale of Macho Springs Solar Project

SAN FRANCISCO, June 2, 2014: Farella Braun + Martel LLP represented First Solar, Inc. on its sale of the 50 megawatt Macho Springs Solar Project to Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy. The project is located on approximately 600 acres of State Trust land in Luna County, New Mexico, and will sell power to El Paso Electric pursuant to a 20-year power purchase agreement.  It is the largest solar power plant in the state of New Mexico. The deal closed on May 23.

Farella also assisted First Solar with the 2013 acquisition of the Macho Springs Solar Project and served as counsel on the project’s real estate and development.

The Farella Macho Springs team included Corporate Partners Ryan Lowther and David Stoll, Real Estate Partner Richard Rabbitt and Corporate Associates Jacqueline Swigler and Shara McCarthy.
