Farella Braun + Martel and ACC Bay Area Chapter Present 2nd Annual Diversity Pipeline Speed Mentoring Program
SAN FRANCISCO (July 24, 2012) – Farella Braun + Martel LLP, in partnership with the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Bay Area Chapter Diversity Committee, hosted the 2nd Annual Diversity Pipeline Speed Mentoring Program on July 16, 2012. At this unique event, a select group of diverse Bay Area students were introduced to members of the in-house bar.
The evening consisted of a 45-minute interactive one-on-one “speed mentoring” program between in-house counsel volunteers and the students in Farella’s Diversity Pipeline Internship Program, followed by a reception. The in-house counsel shared stories, experiences, lessons learned and personal triumphs with the students in an effort to inspire the students to pursue higher education and consider a career in the legal field. Attendees from companies such as Bank of the West, Bare Escentuals Beauty, Inc., The Clorox Company, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard Company, KLN Consulting Group, NetApp, Inc., McKesson Corp., Silver Oak Partners, TeleNav, Inc. and Visa Inc. participated in the program.
Launched in 2007, Farella’s award-winning Diversity Pipeline Internship Program provides high school students from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds with a unique opportunity to learn about the legal profession. The hands-on summer internship program provides the participants with practical law firm and professional office experience while exposing them to a wide range of legal careers. In 2010, Farella open sourced the program materials to the Bay Area legal community. Please contact us for additional information, including how to take part in 2013.
