Farella Braun + Martel Honored With High Achiever Award From Youth Jobs+

September 22, 2015 Accolades

SAN FRANCISCO, September 22, 2015 – Farella Braun + Martel LLP is proud to be honored with a High Achiever Award by the Youth Jobs+ initiative. High Achievers are employers that went beyond the call in getting San Francisco youth employed.

The award recognizes Farella for its High School Pipeline Internship Program. Since its launch in 2007, the program has provided 40 high school students with a unique opportunity to learn about the legal profession through a hands-on six-week paid summer internship program. The groundbreaking educational program targets diverse or disadvantaged high school students in the Bay Area with the objectives of exposing them to the possibilities of a legal career and supporting them in the steps to get there.

Youth Jobs+ is a city-wide program to help young adults (ages 16-24) find employment. The initiative is a partnership between the City of San Francisco, United Way of the Bay Area, the Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the San Francisco Unified School District, youth-serving nonprofits and the San Francisco business community.

In addition to Farella, this year’s awardees include: SF International Airport, SF Metro Transit Authority, SF Public Utilities Commission, Safeway and Salesforce. The recipients were recognized by Mayor Edwin Lee on stage at the Youth Jobs+ end of summer celebration on September 21st at Autodesk Gallery.

Farella was also honored this year to be named the San Francisco Business Times’ 2015 Corporate Philanthropy Education Partner of the Year. The honor recognized Farella for the accomplishments of its long-standing programs targeting diverse Bay Area students. In addition to the Pipeline Internship Program, Farella’s efforts include its Diversity IL Scholarship Program and the Law & Justice Credit Recovery Program.
