Midsize Firms Scrutinize Sporadic Partner Attendance in Return to Office Push

Brian Donnelly spoke to Jessie Yount for the ALM Pro Mid-Market article, "Midsize Firms Scrutinize Sporadic Partner Attendance in Return to Office Push."

The article mentioned that since the firm moved to One Bush Plaza, it has seen office attendance more than double. “Personal interaction is key to our success, but from my point of view, that doesn’t necessitate being in the office five days a week,” said Brian.

However, Brian said he is stressing the importance of building relationships for career longevity. “We’re not saying you have to come in a certain number of days, but you have to be part of the fabric of the firm,” he said. “You can’t do that remotely.”

While partner attendance is critical to help younger attorneys integrate into the firm, Brian said he’s also encouraging associates to take charge of their career development. “When we hire associates, we think about who could become a partner,” Brian said. “Because we treat associates as future partners, we expect them to be professional and do what needs to be done.”
