Shortly after taking office, President Donald Trump issued a series of orders seeking to punish law firms that had represented parties he disfavored. These executive orders were transparent efforts to disempower and silence lawyers and law firms, the key defenders of our nation’s civil and constitutional rights.

Major law firms and their leaders were faced with an unprecedented decision: Would they take a public stand against the Trump administration’s patently unconstitutional attack on the practice of law?
