California’s energy system is experiencing an exciting and rapid transformation in response to the state’s Renewables Portfolio Standard goal of 33% renewable generation by 2020. As a result, energy companies, attorneys, consultants and environmental organizations are actively working with federal, state and local governments to find ways to design and develop renewable energy projects to meet that goal while still protecting the environment and the state’s natural resources. Berkeley Law Center for Law, Energy & the Environment, The Environmental Law Institute and Farella Braun + Martel are sponsoring an on-going series of panel discussions to address the issues involved in this renewable energy transformation. These panels bring together expert speakers from diverse sectors to analyze the challenges and benefits involved in making renewable energy a reality.
