Farella Braun + Martel’s Jeff Fisher Named Among the Daily Journal’s Top 75 IP Litigators in California

April 20, 2012 Accolades

SAN FRANCISCO (April 20, 2012): Farella Braun + Martel announces that Partner Jeffrey M. Fisher has been named among the Daily Journal’s “Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigators” in the state for 2012.

The Daily Journal recognized Fisher, along with Farella Partner James Morando, for leading a team of Farella lawyers to obtain a significant series of wins for Volterra Semiconductor Corporation in a patent dispute involving five patents relating to flip chip switching regulators. Following a three-week trial in 2011, a federal jury handed down a unanimous verdict in Volterra’s favor affirming the rights of this innovative patent holder to protect its core intellectual property, which was being infringed by a much larger competitor attempting to flex its legal muscle.

A trial lawyer, Fisher’s practice focuses on intellectual property and high technology disputes, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement, as well as antitrust, trade secret and unfair competition cases. He has litigated patent infringement actions in federal district courts throughout the country and in the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) relating to semiconductors, solar panels, digital data compression, email encryption software, silicon wafer drying technology, cellular telephones, motion picture soundtrack technology and a screen for Down's Syndrome during pregnancy. Fisher currently serves as president of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society and served as chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco from 2008-2010. He is the past chair of Farella’s Intellectual Property Litigation Department. Fisher received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law (1991), where he served as an editor of the University of Illinois Law Review and was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
