Farella Represents hiQ Labs in Groundbreaking Victory Against LinkedIn

August 15, 2017 Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO (August 15, 2017) – Farella Braun + Martel LLP client hiQ Labs, Inc. has won a groundbreaking motion for preliminary injunction (PI) against LinkedIn. Granted by Judge Edward Chen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the PI prevents LinkedIn from restricting hiQ’s access to publicly available LinkedIn profile information and allows hiQ to continue serving its clients.

“This is a groundbreaking win, not just for hiQ, but for any business that wishes to create innovative data analytics using public information on the internet,” said Deepak Gupta, Intellectual Property Litigation Partner at Farella.

The Farella team is led by Intellectual Property Litigation Partner Deepak Gupta with Business Litigation Partner Brandon Wisoff, IP Litigation Associate Jeffrey Lau and Litigation Associate Rebecca Stephens. Renowned constitutional scholar Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe signed onto the pleadings with Farella as co-counsel to hiQ because of the important constitutional, free speech and economic issues the case poses.
