North Bay Wineries Taking Insurers to Court Over Denied Smoke Taint Claims

Tyler Gerking, chair of Farella's Insurance Recovery Group, was quoted in the Napa Valley Register article, "North Bay Wineries Taking Insurers to Court Over Denied Smoke Taint Claims."

In the article, Tyler said he would expect to see more of this between insurance companies and the insured over the next six to 12 months, because he thinks wineries are now identifying the problem lots or batches. He added that he has a number of clients who recently filed insurance claims over smoke tainted grapes and are waiting to hear from insurers.
