Biography

Allyson Deraps has extensive experience advising public charities on a broad range of legal matters, including formation, corporate governance, compliance, risk management, contracts, employment issues, and intellectual property protection. Her legal representation is built on a deep understanding of the unique needs of nonprofit and purpose-driven entities.

Often serving as outside general counsel, Allyson aims to be a trusted partner to her clients, enabling them to focus on their missions and move them forward with confidence. Her practice is characterized by a collaborative approach, responsiveness, and a commitment to making legal issues manageable and understandable.

Allyson began her legal career at Farella, where she represented technology companies and individuals in complex intellectual property and business disputes. Before rejoining Farella, she founded Deraps Law, where she provided outside general counsel services to nonprofit organizations and social enterprises, and she served as deputy general counsel for the nonprofit Burning Man Project.
