In April 2026, Farella continued to stand up for the rule of law by joining the Brief of Amici Curiae Law Firms in support of the four law firms currently fighting the executive orders targeting them.

Co-Managing Partner Holly Sutton spoke to The American Lawyer about the amicus brief filed Friday, April 4, 2025, in support of Perkins Coie’s challenge to President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting the firm. “At this critical juncture, as our fellow attorneys are targeted with devastating retaliation by the federal government based solely on the President’s personal ‘enemies list’, the legal profession needs to unite and speak with one voice to protect our system of law.”

Perkins Coie Ruling Could Offer 'Persuasive Force' for Other EO Litigation
Holly Sutton was quoted in The National Law Journal article about a federal judge’s ruling striking down President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting Perkins Coie. In the article, Holly called the ruling a "sound" decision and said she fully expects "that every judge that looks at this issue is going to have to reach the same conclusion."

Oversight Project Targeted DC Law Firms in Collective Billion-Dollar Pro Bono Ask
Farella Co-Managing Partner Karen Kimmey was quoted in The American Lawyer article about the Heritage Foundation-linked Oversight Project letters sent to roughly 100 Big Law firms with a presence in Washington, D.C. to ask for an aggregate $1 billion in free legal work. In the article, Karen notes, “whether Trump's behind this particular one or not, it's clearly tied to the fear that he’s imposed [with] these executive orders.”

"There’s a not even very thinly veiled threat that they’re going to use the power of the Trump administration to come after firms that don't do their politically motivated work,” she added.
