September 29, 2022 Announcement

Northern California legal powerhouse Farella Braun + Martel is proud to announce that partners Aviva J. Gilbert and Janice W. Reicher were named among The Recorder’s “Lawyers on the Fast Track” as part of the publication’s 2022 California Legal Awards. “Lawyers on the Fast Track” celebrates lawyers in California under 40 who are considered the next generation of legal leaders.

Aviva and Janice are co-chairs of Farella’s White Collar Defense and Internal Corporate Investigations Group.

Aviva represents individuals, companies, and institutions in federal and state regulatory investigations, enforcement proceedings, and criminal justice matters. She also represents directors and board committees in conducting, or responding to, internal investigations for public and private technology, biotech, consumer goods, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as large nonprofit organizations. She has a special focus on emergent issues in the financial services, energy, and healthcare arenas, where she has clients in the cryptocurrency wing of the economy and clients facing government inquiries related to novel technologies in the energy and healthcare sectors. Aviva serves as global chair and a founding member of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association Young Lawyers Committee. In 2020, she received the organization’s Catherine M. O’Neil Award. She was a 2019 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinder. Aviva received her J.D. and an MA from Stanford University, and her B.A. from Harvard College. She clerked for the Honorable Wilma A. Lewis, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Virgin Islands. When she is not practicing law, she serves as a member of the board of trustees of The Contemporary Jewish Museum and as an appointed commissioner for the City of Berkeley.

Janice represents individuals and entities in federal and state court, in criminal matters and complex commercial litigation matters. She regularly defends high-level corporate executives facing litigation or investigation processes involving allegations such as trade secret theft and antitrust and securities violations. She also represents companies in conducting internal investigations in high-stakes matters involving securities violations and public corruption. In her business litigation practice, her experience ranges from complex contractual disputes to matters alleging fraud, unfair competition, and breach of fiduciary duty. She has particular experience in civil antitrust matters having litigated a landmark antitrust class action against Northern California’s dominant hospital system resulting in a $575 million settlement and historic injunctive relief. Janice serves in leadership roles with the ABA White Collar Crime Division and as a member of the executive board of directors for the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California. She is a 2022 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow. Janice has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America in Commercial Litigation and Criminal Defense: White-Collar (2021-2023). Janice received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and her B.A. from Yale University. She clerked for the Honorable Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
