An overview of collection management, methods of disposition (valuation and tax implications), and estate planning for dealing with art and other valuable collections for yourself and clients
This workshop will explore
- Collection ownership and management to protect the value of the collection (document, catalog, photograph, insure, and appraise the collection)
- Overview of various vehicles (entities, trusts, donor-advised funds (DAFs) and funding them with art and other valuable assets
- Methods of disposition (sell, donate, gift) and choosing where to dispose of the piece/collection (auction, private sale, museum, bequeath to family members)
- Considerations for appraisals and valuations
