Cynthia Rowland Recognized Among MCCA’s List of Rainmakers

November 11, 2015 Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO, November 11, 2015: Farella Braun + Martel LLP Partner Cynthia Rowland has been named to the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s Annual List of Rainmakers for 2015. The list features 15 lawyers from across the country in a wide variety of practice areas.

In her Rainmakers profile, Cynthia describes herself as a connector: “I connect people with those who can help them achieve their goals. It might be me, or it might be another attorney, but I’m always thinking about how to get the problem solved by the best person.”

Rowland’s practice focuses on charitable giving arrangements and complex structures, as well as a wide variety of business transactions, for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. She enjoys helping individuals and families achieve personal and family business, charitable, philanthropic and community objectives. Current projects include assisting with a charitable contribution of a large art collection; helping a “sharing economy” business to create a corporate foundation; and, on the business side of philanthropy, representing a large nonprofit with a major property acquisition.

Rowland serves on the board of directors for Tax-Aid and is a member of the advisory committee for the Walt Disney Family Museum. She has served as chair of the Nonprofit Organizations Committee for the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and was named its 2011 Outstanding Attorney of the Year. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the Nonprofit/Charities Law and Tax Law practice areas and was honored as the 2015 San Francisco “Lawyer of the Year” for Nonprofit/Charities Law. Rowland earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1988).

In the feature Rowland notes, “Mine is actually a stable practice with mild ups and downs. Still, it’s necessary that I be willing to grow and evolve. Early on in the development of my practice, I would frequently change what I was doing to look for new ways to reach new clients. Now, I change when necessary to remain relevant. Innovation and connections are what make me stand out to a lot of clients.”

The Annual List of Rainmakers is part of the November/December issue of Diversity & the Bar Magazine. Click here to read profiles of the lawyers featured in the special report.
