John Ugai Joins ELI’s Emerging Leaders Initiative
Farella Braun + Martel is proud to announce that John Ugai, an associate in the firm’s Environmental Law and Energy + Infrastructure Industry groups, was selected to join the 2022 cohort of the Environmental Law Institute’s (ELI) Emerging Leaders Initiative.
ELI’s Emerging Leaders Initiative connects, supports, and fosters dialogue amongst the next generation of rising stars in environmental law and policy. Members are selected by some of the most prominent environment, energy, and natural resource leaders in the nation from ELI’s Board, Leadership Council, and staff.
At Farella, John helps clients navigate the complexities of federal and state environmental laws, including the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, and Porter-Cologne Water Quality Act. In particular, he has experience representing large and small businesses in matters involving liability for cleanup and site remediation and federal citizen suits under the Clean Water Act. In addition to representing clients in state and federal court, John advises clients on environmental compliance and renewable energy project development issues. He earned his J.D. from Standford Law School in 2017.
