Farella Braun + Martel Elevates Linda Sobczynski Gilleran to Partner
Northern California legal powerhouse Farella Braun + Martel is pleased to announce the election of senior associate Linda Sobczynski Gilleran to the partnership effective January 1, 2025.
“We are thrilled to congratulate Linda on this significant career achievement honoring her skill, hard work, and demonstrated commitment to the firm and our clients,” said Farella Co-Managing Partners Karen Kimmey and Holly Sutton. “We applaud her leadership in the environmental and energy sectors and passion for helping companies navigate the ever-evolving landscape of environmental laws and regulations.”
Linda has a comprehensive renewable energy, litigation, and regulatory environmental practice. She advises on clean energy permitting relating to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and the Endangered Species Act. She has a successful track record in environmental litigation, defeating claims brought under NEPA and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. Additionally, she has obtained favorable settlements for her clients in matters arising under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Proposition 65, the Clean Water Act, as well as in complex toxic tort litigation. Linda’s biological sciences degree bolsters her strength as an environmental advisor and litigator, allowing her to meaningfully collaborate with technical consultants on issues related to emerging contaminants, air quality, hydrology, biology, and geology to find the right solutions for her clients.
Linda is an executive committee member of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Environmental Law Section. She is also a member of the Environmental Law Institute’s Women in Environmental Law & Leadership steering committee and a member of Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE). Linda was recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in the areas of Energy Law, Environmental Law, and Litigation–Environmental (2024-2025). In 2019, she was a Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Fellow. Linda received her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law (2015) and her B.A. from Vanderbilt University (2012).
