Eviction Moratorium Updates for Nonprofits

March 24, 2021 Webinar
Nonprofit Education Series

Tony Schoenberg discussing "Eviction Moratorium Updates for Nonprofits" at the March Nonprofit Education Series.

As an owner or tenant, dealing with real estate has been one of the most significant challenges facing nonprofits during the pandemic. The recently signed SB91 extends California’s residential eviction moratorium to June 30, giving landlords the ability to opt-out of a newly-created rental assistance program. In addition, commercial eviction moratoriums enacted by many cities and counties remain in effect, including in San Francisco and Oakland, and the federal government's residential eviction moratorium was also recently extended. The discussion includes:
•    The modified California state moratorium for residential tenancies, including the rental assistance opt-out for landlords
•    Local moratoriums governing commercial tenancies
•    The federal moratorium enacted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
