"How will the federal government respond to legal retail marijuana in California?"

Ryan Lowther, chair of Farella Braun + Martel's Cannabis Industry Group, was quoted in this article discussing how the federal government will respond to legal retail marijuana in California.

In the article, Mr. Lowther responded to the question, "So what does that mean for growers and entrepreneurs looking to get in on the nation’s soon-to-be largest marijuana bonanza?" He responded that largely they’ll have to bite the bullet, go legal and hope for the best if they want to survive long-term.

"Becoming a part of the regulated industry is the only real, long-term, viable plan for cannabis businesses," Mr. Lowther said. "The serious players in the industry realize this and are welcoming regulation with the knowledge that it will lead to greater legitimacy for the industry, an influx of additional capital and accelerated growth."
